During a 2012 game, Watt, then playing for the Houston Texans, quipped to Ray Rice of the Ravens, “I’ve eaten burritos bigger than you.” This snippet, caught on a mic, made its way to the “NFL Honors” show before the Super Bowl that season, catapulting Watt into the spotlight.
Jeff and Jackie Schaffer, the masterminds behind FXX’s “The League,” were among those captivated by Watt’s charisma. When they brought him onto the set for an episode in 2013, their admiration only grew.
