Ravens Dominate, Clinch AFC North Title and No. 1 Seed Dec 31, 2023, at 04:12 PM By Hayley Salvatore, Editorial Intern

The path to the Super Bowl runs through Baltimore!

In a resounding 56-19 victory against the Miami Dolphins at M&T Bank Stadium, the Ravens secured the AFC North title and locked in the No. 1 seed in the AFC. This accomplishment grants them a first-round bye and the coveted homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

The match, coupled with impressive performances in recent weeks, sends a clear message about the strength of this year’s Ravens team and their potential to achieve the ultimate goal of bringing a Super Bowl back to Baltimore.

Head Coach John Harbaugh expressed his admiration, stating, “I don’t know if I’ve seen a more impressive performance in a game. I’m not sure I’ve seen a more impressive performance in a season to date. Obviously, we have a lot more to do. We have a lot of work to do in front of us.”

This victory marks Baltimore’s first division title and first-round playoff bye since 2019, a season where they went 14-2. Now, with quarterback Lamar Jackson leading the charge, the Ravens are determined to surpass their past playoff exits.

Jackson, who threw five touchdowns and achieved a perfect passer rating for the third time in his career, is on the brink of securing his second MVP award. The 56 points scored against the Dolphins set a record as the most ever by the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.

In celebration of the AFC North Championship, the team, including Harbaugh, joyfully danced in the locker room and adorned AFC championship T-shirts and hats.

This championship victory ends the Bengals’ streak of consecutive division titles, as they aimed to make history by winning the AFC North three-straight times.

Cornerback Arthur Maulet emphasized, “This is a tough division. It’s one of the best divisions in football – if not the best. We fought our butts off, and we got the results we wanted, but that’s not enough. We’re looking for bigger things.”

The upcoming first-round bye provides the Ravens with a crucial opportunity to get key players healthy and prepare for a deep playoff run. With the likes of safety Kyle Hamilton, guard Kevin Zeitler, and cornerback Brandon Stephens absent in the recent game, and cornerback Marlon Humphrey ruled out with a calf injury, the extra week of rest proves invaluable.

Harbaugh affirmed, “It’s going to be valuable. There’s no doubt about it. Our guys are going to keep working hard and preparing to be ready to play. They’ll practice. They’ll lift. They’ll do all the things they have to do, but that extra week is going to be very valuable.”
