Cam Heyward has earned the NFLPA Community MVP title for Week 8 after his remarkable efforts during “Cam’s Kindness Week,” a heartfelt initiative that deeply impacted his Pittsburgh community.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the recognition, Heyward commented, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to see the Heyward House Foundation’s work highlighted by the NFLPA this week. Cam’s Kindness Week is a project I initiated last year to remind us all that, even in the midst of the NFL season’s chaos, a small act of kindness can hold immense meaning for someone.”

Kicking off his philanthropic journey on October 20, the Pittsburgh defensive lineman extended an invitation to four local high school athletes who had faced season-ending injuries. He hosted them at a Steelers practice, facilitating introductions with his teammates and sharing his personal journey of recovering from an injury while on the injured reserve. Heyward further invited these athletes to join him in his suite for the University of Pittsburgh’s game on November 4.

Continuing his mission, Heyward visited the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh the following Monday. He recorded a book reading for patients, engaged in fun activities with the kids, and distributed autographed No. 97 pillows. The day concluded with a heartwarming gesture, as Heyward provided meals to every family, healthcare worker, and hospital staff member.

On Tuesday, Heyward paid a visit to Café Momentum, a local eatery that offers internships to at-risk youth with juvenile justice system involvement. During the visit, he delivered a motivational speech to the interns, emphasizing accountability and the power of overcoming adversity to achieve one’s aspirations. He also joined in preparing a pasta meal for them to savor together.

The following day, Heyward, accompanied by his mother, Charlotte, spent the afternoon at The Caring Place, an organization dedicated to supporting children coping with the loss of a loved one. The 13-year NFL veteran engaged with 50 children in attendance, sharing his own journey of resilience after the loss of his father, former NFL player Craig Heyward. Together, they participated in an art project, writing messages on butterflies to create a touching collage in honor of their departed loved ones.
