US Mother Jailed for Killing 4-Year-Old Daughter by Feeding Her a Diet of Mountain Dew

Tamara Banks, a 41-year-old mother from Ohio, has been sentenced to 9 to 13.5 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter after the death of her four-year-old daughter, Karmity. Prosecutors revealed that Karmity died due to severe malnutrition and a lack of proper medical care, largely because Banks fed her a diet primarily consisting of Mountain Dew.

The tragic case came to light after Karmity passed away in 2022 from complications related to diabetes. At the time of her death, many of her teeth had rotted away, a detail that underscored the extent of her neglect. The Clermont County prosecutor described the situation as “one of the most tragic cases I have ever encountered.”

Karmity’s father, 53-year-old Christopher Hoeb, also pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and is scheduled for sentencing on June 11.

In a related revelation, Banks’ oldest son, Jerry, told Fox News that a similar situation had occurred with his brother in 2011, but doctors were able to save him.
