El Salvador’s Bukele Urges US Conservatives to “Put Up a Fight” Against Global Elites

At the largest annual gathering of US conservatives, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele delivered a powerful message: “Put up a fight” against global elites to reclaim your country. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington, D.C., Bukele urged Americans to follow El Salvador’s example. “The people of El Salvador have woken up, and so can you,” he proclaimed.

Bukele, who describes himself as the “world’s coolest dictator,” was recently re-elected for a second term, with his popularity surging after a crackdown on crime and gangs transformed El Salvador from one of the world’s most dangerous countries to one of the safest in the region. However, his approach has not been without controversy, as human rights organizations have accused his administration of arbitrarily jailing thousands during the anti-gang drive.

The 42-year-old leader was greeted with a standing ovation and shouts of “I love you” from the CPAC audience, reflecting his growing fan base among American conservatives. Many admire his tough stance on crime, while others appreciate his embrace of cryptocurrency, having made bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador.

CPAC, hosted by the American Conservative Union, has become a significant event for conservatives, particularly those aligned with former President Donald Trump, whose influence over the Republican Party has shaped the conference in recent years.
