One of the most magical aspects of Christmas is the festive food. Many families have cherished holiday traditions, such as baking cookies, stringing popcorn garlands, and building intricate gingerbread houses. Naturally, you’d want to share these delightful seasonal treats with your little ones. But can toddlers enjoy candy canes? Is it safe to let your baby have a taste of this classic holiday candy? Experts strongly advise parents to keep candy canes away from young children and opt for softer, safer stocking stuffers for a few more years.

Can babies eat candy canes?

In short, no. Babies should not be eating candy canes. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), hard or sticky candies pose a choking hazard to children aged 4 years and younger. Experts unanimously agree on this recommendation, urging parents to err on the side of caution.
