Celtics Coach Makes Bold Statement with “But First … Let Me Thank God” Shirt

Boston Celtics coach Joseph Mazzulla, known for his outspoken faith, made a powerful statement following his team’s NBA Championship win on Monday night. Celebrating the Celtics’ 106-88 victory over Dallas, which secured the franchise’s 18th NBA title and its first in 16 years, Mazzulla wore a faith-themed T-shirt during post-game interviews. He expressed gratitude, telling one interviewer, “God put us here for a reason.”
At just 35 years old, Mazzulla became the youngest coach since 1970 to win an NBA championship. His deep faith in Christ has previously sparked viral moments, such as his humorous response last season when asked about meeting the British royal family: “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph? I’m only familiar with one royal family.”
Mazzulla’s T-shirt, boldly emblazoned with “BUT FIRST … LET ME THANK GOD” in large, all-capital letters, quickly garnered attention. By Tuesday morning, similar shirts were already available for purchase on clothing websites, allowing fans to share in the coach’s message of faith and gratitude.
Celebrate the Celtics’ victory and Coach Mazzulla’s inspirational message with your own “But First … Let Me Thank God” shirt! Visit our store today to get yours and show your support for both faith and basketball excellence.
