Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, has strongly criticized Israel’s recent statements.
Accusing the country of putting the credibility of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at risk. Eslami’s remarks come shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boasted about the need for Iran to face a “credible nuclear threat.”
Addressing the 67th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, Eslami emphasized Tehran’s right to respond to what he called Israel’s “arrogance.” He pointed out that the international community’s silence has emboldened Israel, and Iran considers it within its rights to counter the provocations of the Zionist regime.
Netanyahu’s recent speech at the 78th UN General Assembly, where he warned of a “curse of a nuclear Iran,” and alleged Iran’s support for terror proxies, drew strong criticism from Iran. Iran’s diplomatic mission to the UN dismissed Netanyahu’s claims as a “comedy show,” stating that they are baseless and lack credibility.
Eslami further highlighted Israel’s threats against Iran’s nuclear experts, stating that such actions violate the United Nations Charter and the IAEA Statute. The Iranian official’s remarks underscore the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel over nuclear proliferation issues.
