Michigan Wolverines Triumph in Houston: Champions Once Again!

The jubilation continued into the early hours of Tuesday morning in Houston as Michigan, staying in town after a spectacular game, clinched the College Football Playoff final, securing its first national title since 1997 with a resounding 34-13 victory over Washington.

Jim Harbaugh, running on just a few hours of sleep, attributed the historic win to a collective team effort. “Nothing fancy, just good old-fashioned hard work and teamwork,” he remarked during a press conference on Tuesday morning.

Harbaugh, in his ninth season coaching his alma mater, reflected on the journey of turning Michigan into a Big Ten powerhouse. After clinching conference championships in 2021, ’22, and ’23, this year’s triumph marked the culmination of years of dedication and perseverance.

“It rarely comes around. You hope to achieve excellence along the way. But, gosh, it’s perfect. It was a perfect 15-0,” Harbaugh shared, highlighting the flawless season.

The coach acknowledged past disappointments, stating, “Sometimes you’ve got to go through those things to get to where you are.” Despite facing challenges, the Wolverines remained resilient, clinching the national title undefeated.

Harbaugh, accompanied by standout players Blake Corum and Will Johnson, praised the team’s collective effort. Corum delivered a stellar performance in his final college game, securing 134 yards and two touchdowns, while Johnson, a sophomore, contributed four tackles and an interception against Washington’s top-ranked passing attack.

The victory was not without controversy, with Michigan embroiled in two NCAA investigations and Harbaugh serving dual three-game suspensions. Despite this, the Wolverines triumphed over key opponents, solidifying their place as college football’s new champions.

The team will return to Michigan on Tuesday afternoon, where a hero’s welcome awaits in Ann Arbor. A celebratory parade is in the works, providing one more opportunity for Harbaugh and his players to savor their well-deserved moment of glory.

“This wasn’t a dream. That was real,” Harbaugh affirmed. “We’re national champs.” As the Wolverines prepare for the journey back to Ann Arbor and the upcoming parade, the elation of victory is palpable. #GoBlue #NationalChampions
