‘Keon Coleman are you kidding me?’ FSU receiver sets social media ablaze with this catch
With Johnny Wilson sidelined for Saturday’s matchup against Syracuse, it was Keon Coleman’s time to shine for Florida State.
And shine he did. On FSU’s initial possession of the game, he delivered one of the most spectacular catches Seminoles fans are likely to witness all season.
The transfer from Michigan State has been a consistent target for Jordan Travis this season, racking up 278 yards on 20 receptions and notching six touchdowns, which tied him for 10th in the nation prior to Saturday’s game.
The junior donned a warm-up shirt paying homage to Peter Warrick, and he certainly lived up to the FSU legend’s legacy on the very first series against Syracuse. Coleman made four receptions for 44 yards, including an unbelievable one-handed grab that covered 27 yards.
As Robert Griffin III humorously quipped on the ABC broadcast, “You know what they say about big hands… big gloves and a big catch radius.”
While Coleman did have a momentary scare with a potential fumble during the drive, Trey Benson swiftly recovered the loose ball, and Jordan Travis capped off the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.
But Keon Coleman was far from finished. In the second quarter, Travis unleashed a deep pass to Coleman, who effortlessly scored on a 58-yard slant-and-go touchdown, giving FSU a 17-3 lead.
The ABC broadcast highlighted that Coleman’s impressive hops should come as no surprise, given that the 6-foot-4 wide receiver played basketball under the guidance of legendary coach Tom Izzo at Michigan State.
Injuries may have shifted his focus to football, but Coleman’s talent remained evident as he hauled in 65 receptions for 848 yards and eight touchdowns over two seasons in East Lansing.
