Former President Donald Trump Surrenders: Historic Mug Shot Released
Former President Donald Trump’s booking photo was unveiled by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday evening, following his surrender to authorities. The charges stem from his alleged attempts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. This historic image marks the first time a mug shot has been taken of a former U.S. president.
Trump presented himself at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, where he underwent processing. He was subsequently released on a $200,000 bond approximately half an hour after his arrival. Defendants are required to pay 10% of the bail amount as a bond, and this measure ensures their compliance with court appearances.

The exact date of his arraignment in Fulton County Superior Court remains uncertain. However, District Attorney Fani Willis has indicated that the 19 individuals involved in the 2020 election case are expected to be arraigned during the week of September 5.
“We maintain our absolute innocence,” Trump told reporters at the Atlanta airport before returning to his residence in New Jersey. “We firmly believe in our right to challenge an election that we perceive as lacking integrity.”
Trump labeled his legal predicament in Fulton County as a “miscarriage of justice.”
In addition to agreeing to the $200,000 bond, which encompasses an $80,000 bond for violating Georgia’s racketeering law and $10,000 bonds for each of the 12 subsequent charges, Trump is prohibited from intimidating any of his 18 co-defendants or witnesses. A bond order, mutually agreed upon by Willis and Trump’s legal team, mandates that he must not obstruct the administration of justice in any way.
Furthermore, Trump is forbidden from issuing any “direct or indirect” threats against co-defendants, witnesses, or alleged victims, including on social media platforms. These conditions also preclude the former president from discussing the case’s facts with the other 18 charged parties, except through his legal representatives.
This marks Trump’s fourth indictment this year and the first that necessitates a mug shot. He currently faces two federal prosecutions; however, official photographs were employed during his booking in those instances. Unlike in the federal court system, where mug shots are not released, no photo was taken of Trump in New York. There, he faces state charges of falsifying business records. Moreover, New York law restricts the public release of most booking photos by law enforcement.
Across his previous three cases this year, Trump has pleaded not guilty and asserted that his prosecutions are politically motivated.
On August 14, a Fulton County grand jury issued a comprehensive 41-count indictment, charging Trump and 18 associates. Prosecutors allege that they participated in a “criminal enterprise” aimed at overturning Trump’s electoral defeat in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election.
The charges against Trump include 13 counts, encompassing an alleged violation of Georgia’s racketeering law, making false statements and writings, and conspiring to commit forgery. These charges pertain to an alleged scheme to replace duly elected presidential electors with new ones who would cast their votes for the former president.
Trump has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing in relation to his actions following the November 2020 election. He has criticized the case pursued by Willis as a politically motivated “witch hunt” designed to undermine his prospective 2024 presidential campaign.
